Partnership Between Ika North-East LGA and UNIDEL Set to Drive Education, Innovation, and Community Development
The Executive Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Area, Hon. (Amb.) Monday Odigwe, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL) as he received the institution’s newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eric Eboh, on a courtesy visit to the Local Government Secretariat in Owa-Oyibu.
The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Akpojuvie, and other members of the University Management team.
The visit provided an opportunity for Prof. Eboh to formally introduce himself to the Chairman, present the University’s strategic development blueprint known as the RAISE Agenda, and seek a productive partnership with the Local Government.
Speaking during the meeting, the Vice Chancellor explained that the RAISE Agenda is built on the pillars of Research, Academic Excellence, Innovation, Skills and Service, and Entrepreneurship. He noted that the University is committed to working closely with the Local Government in areas such as youth empowerment, community healthcare, agricultural development, ICT training, and other initiatives that will directly benefit the people of Ika North-East.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Monday Odigwe congratulated Prof. Eboh on his appointment, describing it as a positive step for the advancement of education and community development.
He assured the University of the Local Government’s full support, emphasizing that the goals of the RAISE Agenda align with his administration’s Strong Optimistic Agenda for sustainable growth and renewed hope in Ika North-East.
“The University and the Local Government share a common purpose because what affects the University also affects our people. Your RAISE Agenda complements our vision for progress, and we are ready to build a strong partnership that will create opportunities for our youths and promote community development,” the Chairman stated.
Hon. Odigwe further pledged to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for educational and community outreach programmes that will improve the lives of residents across the Local Government Area.
The University Management appreciated the Chairman’s warm reception and commitment to collaboration, assuring the Council of its readiness to contribute through research, medical outreach programmes, and practical solutions to local developmental challenges.
Both the Local Government and the University agreed to strengthen their partnership in pursuit of shared goals that will foster economic growth, educational advancement, and social development in Ika North-East.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and prayers offered by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Tunde Etumudon, who prayed for a successful tenure for the Vice Chancellor and expressed optimism that the partnership would create lasting opportunities for students, farmers, traders, youths, and other stakeholders across the Local Government Area.
Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman of the Council, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, the Head of Personnel Management (HPM), the Treasurer to the Local Government (TLG), Supervisory Councillors, and other senior officials of the Council.
