In celebration of Children’s Day, the Executive Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Area, Hon. Monday Odigwe, reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to creating a nurturing and competitive environment for children within the LGA.
Speaking at a special event held at the council secretariat in Owa-Oyibu, Hon. Odigwe underscored the crucial role of education and skills training in shaping the next generation. He revealed that his administration is strategically investing in improved learning infrastructure, access to quality education, and programs that encourage innovation and problem-solving among young people.
He further explained that the council is actively collaborating with NGOs, community stakeholders, and traditional institutions to roll out initiatives that will enhance the welfare and potential of children in the area. According to him, empowering the younger generation is central to the growth and future of both the local government and the country.
Hon. Odigwe also called on parents and guardians to take full advantage of the educational and developmental opportunities being made available. He stressed the need for community-wide involvement in raising responsible and well-prepared future leaders.
“We owe it to our children to equip them for the future. By providing the right support today, we secure a better tomorrow,” he said.
The celebration was marked by cheerful moments and the distribution of gifts to the children by Hon. Odigwe himself. He was joined by key officials including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Joy Egbulem; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Engr. Eric Chukwuyem Dikenwosi; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Tunde Etumudon; as well as traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
