Otolokpo Market Reconstruction Nears Completion as Hon. Odigwe Urges Swift Action

The Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Area, Hon. Monday Odigwe, on Wednesday inspected the ongoing reconstruction of Otolokpo Community Market, charging the site engineer and contractors to expedite work to ensure timely delivery of the project.

The market reconstruction, which began two weeks ago, is part of the Council’s broader effort to improve infrastructure and boost economic activities across communities in the Local Government Area. The project is expected to be completed within three months, bringing much-needed relief to traders and residents of Otolokpo and its neighboring communities.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Odigwe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing essential amenities and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ika North-East.

“I want this project to be completed as soon as possible because my people must have a comfortable market to do their trading,” he said. “We cannot afford to fail them. I have promised that the dividends of democracy will reach every nook and cranny of Ika North-East Local Government Area under my watch.”

Hon. Odigwe commended the contractor and the site engineer for their efforts so far but emphasized the need for faster progress to meet the project’s timeline. He also assured the people of Otolokpo that the Council will continue to monitor the work closely to ensure quality delivery.

The reconstructed Otolokpo Market, once completed, will serve as a modern trading hub for local farmers, artisans, and traders, enhancing commerce and improving the local economy.

This initiative reflects the Ika North-East Local Government Council’s commitment to community development, infrastructural renewal, and economic empowerment of its citizens.
