Ika North East Chairman Highlights Music’s Role in Community Development

Honourable Hunkamma Monday Odigwe, the Executive Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area, has underscored the significant role of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) in nurturing musical talent and enhancing community progress.

During a courtesy visit by the Ika North East Chapter of PMAN to his office in Owa-Oyibu, Odigwe commended the group for leveraging their artistic skills to contribute positively to local development. He emphasized that music and musicians play a crucial role in governance by strengthening community bonds, fostering social harmony, and driving economic growth. Furthermore, he acknowledged music as a powerful medium for advocacy and social change.

Reiterating his commitment to supporting PMAN, Odigwe assured the delegation of his readiness to collaborate and partner with them. He encouraged members to remain dedicated to their craft, stay focused on capacity building, and uphold unity by steering clear of divisive tendencies.

In response, Sir Vincent Okwuokenye, Chairman of the Ika North East Chapter of PMAN, expressed gratitude for Odigwe’s encouragement and forward-thinking approach. He also highlighted the need for greater collaboration between the association and the local government. As a token of appreciation, the PMAN team presented Odigwe with a framed portrait and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting his administration for the continued progress of Ika North East.
