Monday Odigwe, has been honoured by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ika North East Chapter, with the title of Grand Patron, in recognition of his visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and commitment to grassroots development.
The ceremony, which took place on June 10, 2025, at the NYCN Secretariat in Owa-Oyibu, also featured the formal presentation of the new NYCN Executive Council led by Chairman Comrade Lucky Ehiobu. The youth leadership commended Hon. Odigwe for delivering people-oriented projects and creating a peaceful environment that has empowered both young and old.
Highlighting some key achievements, Comr. Ehiobu praised the Chairman’s efforts in constructing the Ebu-Owa Motor Park, a major transport hub expected to ease local commuting challenges, and the completion of the Upper Efeizomor Road, which has improved access to the Ebu-Owa market and reduced traffic on the Owa-Ekei axis.
He also applauded ongoing infrastructural projects like the new Executive Complex within the Council Secretariat and the Ute-Erumu Civic Centre, noting their long-term value to the community. The youth council further recognized Hon. Odigwe’s strong stance on human capital development, peacebuilding, and inclusive governance.
In a unanimous decision, the NYCN passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Odigwe’s administration. The motion was moved by Comr. Okoro Peter and supported by all members of the enlarged executive committee.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Monday Odigwe expressed deep gratitude for the honour and pledged to continue working hand-in-hand with the youth council. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects under his Optimistic Agenda, now re-energized with the vision of Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E.
